Museo Guggenheim in Bilbao, Spain

This Frank Gehry’s modern architecture, opened in 1997, is in the North of Spain, Bilbao. There is not only art inside but also the building itself has modern signs of art.

Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet

The state museum of China, Potana Palace is used to be the seat of Tibetan government. 13 floor high palace with thousands of  rooms, reminds the temple of Buddhist and in seventh century its said that more than 7000 people worked to form this building.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Egypt

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, completed in 2002 has both old and modern signs of architecture. Its situated near the ocean and it can reserve almost eight million books inside.

Sagrada Familia, Spain

This interesting church in Spain is the monument of one of the most interesting designers, Antoni Gaudi. The construction of the church was started in 1882 (still not completed) and planned to be finished in 2026, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Gaudi’s death. The church has 18 towers and the tallest  one represents Jesus Christ.

Taj Mahal, India

Taj Mahal, one of the most beautiful monument around the world was constructed for the memorial of Emperor Shah Jahan’s second wife, Mumtaz Mahal who died during the childbirth in 1631. The structure was covered with white marble almost everywhere which makes it impossible to take your eyes from.

Imam Mosque, Iran

The famous mosque, built by Estafan in 17th century was covered with light blue and yellow ceramic tiles. The main door is 30m high where the signs of Safavid period can be seen and the main dome is 54m high with magnificent floral pattern mosaic.

Winter Palace, Russia

The winter palace projected by Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli is also the house of many remarkable collection of art treasures. It was designed for the Russian tsars as the winter reidence in St Petersburg. You can buy a map and an audio guide available in most European languages while visiting the museum.

Crac des Chevaliers, Syria

This castle migh be over 700 years old but unlike most of the fortress of its age, it stands tight and storng as new. Its outer walls are tick and seperated from the miniworld with its baths, hall and chapel inside. Only way to see the ageing of this hilltop fortress is the plants that covers the walls but it is taken care of very attentively.

Museu Oscar Niemeyer, Brazil

The commonly called “Eye Museum”, Museu Oscar Niemeyer was named after its designer, Oscar Niemeyer. The main gallery, situated in Curitiba, has a shape like an eye stands above a yellow support and pool of water around it. You will gain a new aspect of beauty or maybe ugliness as the appereance of this museum is love-it-or-hate-it kind.

Aya Sofya, Turkey

Aya Sofya was built in the 6th century AD at the heart of Istanbul. It completed only in five years to be used as an Orthodox church at the beginning but later its used as mosque and since 1935 it’s also a museum. The enormous dome is 31m wide and 56m high. The lower part of the dome is rolled by window so it looks as if its hover above the building while standing in the building.
